Twitter – Why are YOU on it?

Posted by Biyachessa On September - 19 - 2009

Okay. So maybe this post is just kind of a pay-back to this event I had just a while ago.

Let me tell you my short story.

It was Follow Friday. Okay, so it wasn’t. I had been looking for cool people to follow so I decided to check out the Trending Topics, specifically Jennifer’s Body. I was curious, because I wanted to know if it was good enough for me to watch at the theaters. Then, I saw her tweet. She tweeted that Jennifer’s Body was getting good reviews so naturally, I tweeted her back, asking which people had good reviews on Jennifer’s Body and if she had watched it already. I followed her after so I could get her reply asap. I’m not sure how I got back to her account or how I ended up seeing that tweet, because I don’t really dig around. So, it was my surprise when I saw her account again (I think I was meant to find it!). There was only a few tweets after her Jennifer’s Body tweet and one of this was the one which was a reply to her friend (lol, I don’t even know when she began to follow me – or something like that). I checked her friend’s account as well, as I thought maybe she would be another interesting follow. And there I saw my tweet. RTed without my username and then as in a comment at the end of my tweet it said, “Stalkers”. At first I thought she was a spammer, a bot.

Finally, my clever little brain put itself to work and I understood.

Me? A Stalker? (*whispers of “You think you’re so popular, bitch!” inserted here) One, you’re not a guy, a cute one for me to stalk, hello? Two, you’re not a celebrity (dream much, bitch?) and three, you’re NOT even that pretty (okay, so maybe that was the last burst of anger) but still, asking a question DOES not justify that I’m stalking you? Hello? I’d rather stalk Trace Cyrus and I can’t stand him! Forgive me for trying to make friends! Forgive me for asking a question and dammit! Forgive me for thinking YOU may be cool (*you…ugh! -stamp foot in frustration)! If you weren’t making friends and meeting new people on Twitter, why are you even on Twitter then? You think you’re so popular. You think just because I asked a question I’m stalking you. DUH. It’s the internet. It’s TWITTER for goodness sakes, why do you think it’s called “Followers”? I don’t stalk you, you biatch, I just followed you cause, some delusional part of my mind thought you’d be cool.

So, to you (*curses here* bitch!) here’s why we (me and other COOLER people namely @anjapollack, @blackdiamond16, @xoxo_paige, @anni_1995, @ashbashh7, @elsyx, @x0az1ax0, @loratalk, @snoozywuss_88, @therealemnorm, @lauramajercik, @JayeJayeC, @rice_dreamsicle, @davalancheluv) are on Twitter.

1. Self- expression

DUH. Twitter is a medium of self-expression. No matter how much you deny it, it’s always good to have people share your thoughts and opinions – even more when there’s a lot of people. This is what’s so good about Twitter. Because you can follow anyone, people you share thoughts with from around the world can connect with you. You can rant about anything, use Twitter as a diary, write about anything and everything, may it be how much you hate Lady Gaga or love Glee or think Supernatural is sexy, whatever it is, Twitter lets you get your thoughts out – and that’s what makes it so cool.

2. To Socialize

What, you signed up to Twitter to connect with friends from school? Then do that at a club or something! You’re not on Twitter to keep quiet and be a loner. Do that at an emo session or I don’t know, Sunday club meetings. You’re on Twitter to SOCIALIZE. You want to connect with people of the same interests and build a network from everywhere who you can talk to, rant with and be friends with. You want to meet people who can agree to the same things, to talk to about break ups and make ups when your best friend is not around. RIGHT?

3. To get in touch with the world

When suddenly, the world you’re in is too small, you know everyone in town, you know who they are and whatever they do, in Twitter, you just don’t know everyone in town – you get in touch with people from all over the world! From my personal experience, I meet people who are 12 – 13 behind my time! And, damn. It’s cool.

4. To get in touch with Celebrities

Unlike you (*fuming, mentions of biatch inserted here again*), celebrities are much worth stalking. Through Twitter, you can get in touch with the latest from Disney stars to Victoria Secret models, to the Twilight cast and the Weasley twins and Draco from Harry Potter, to teen drama celebrities and CNN reporters. They tweet, we listen. And no, you (relax, people, not you, her) don’t make the cut.

5. Boredom

We get it. You’re bored. But there’s no games on Twitter. So how does Twitter keep you up and excited? With the cool people on Twitter of course! It’s more fun than games, to talk, to talk, to talk and to talk. Oh and of course, you get to catch up with the coolest celebrities, right?

So. If you’re on Twitter to “connect” with friends from school, use Friendster for pete’s sake. Just because I asked a question from the TTs doesn’t make you worthy of stalking. You’re on a multi-international medium of social networking now – so please, get ahold of yourself because let’s face it – you’re NOT popular here.

Teehee. Okay, maybe I overreacted a little. Still made a fun post with it though. Peace out, bitches!

And to my followers and those I follow and those who helped with this post @anjapollack, @blackdiamond16, @xoxo_paige, @anni_1995, @ashbashh7, @elsyx, @x0az1ax0, @loratalk, @snoozywuss_88, @therealemnorm, @JayeJaye C, @davalancheluv, @lauramajercik, @rice_dreamsicle<– you guys rock and I truly appreciate your help. =) <3 you guys <– follow them or Jason Voorhees will come visit you.

@tijger74 and @marily2500 who I appreciate very much for answering although their answers didn’t exactly help <3 I forgive you though. jk.

How to Keep your Followers

Follower Count

Losing followers? Are you tired of logging in to twitter and finding out that you lost followers AGAIN? Don’t you hate staying up late just to watch your follower count go up and then in the morning you’re devastated to see that its gone down again? Or how about asking people to shout your username so that you can get some more followers and when you do you lose followers instead?

In Twitter, one of the best features is having followers. Followers are kind of like friends. These people read your tweets, think you’re interesting enough and start following you. Although it sounds a little creepy (followers? What is this? Some kind of Satanic group? No offense @Satan, lmao), it’s how Twitter goes. Having followers means there’ll be people to read your tweets, people to talk to and people you may learn things from. You’ll be able to have friends through your followers and you can meet people through your followers. These followers make you somewhat famous and I’m guessing that there are many people who’d like more followers and follow less because it makes them feel important. I’m not going to be a hypocrite, I’d like that as well, but of course, I’m not famous nor am I a celebrity, so like all others, I gotta work for my followers as well.

So how do you keep your followers? How do you keep them interested and following? How do you keep them from unfollowing you? No, no magic or any type of bots should be used, instead, there are 5 ways to keep them on your leash (sorry). I’m sure there are many more ways to keep followers but these 5 are based on own experience (thanks to all my followers, you rock, guys!)

1. Follow back.

First of all, you gotta get it into your head. You’re not a celebrity. You’re a low life- piece of scum – okay, I’m kidding, but you’re not a celebrity. Boo hoo. No matter how much that hurts, you gotta accept it! Maybe in the next lifetime… or maybe not. Maybe in your dreams. Maybe when Santa Claus comes bearing. But whenever it may be – it’s not right now. Or if it was, you wouldn’t be reading this. Anyway, enough of the sarcasm, didn’t mean to ruin your ego or burst your bubble and wake you from your dream. The best way to keep your followers is to follow back. Of course, why would anyone unfollow you if you’re following them back? Unless, they’re pathetic losers who follow and then unfollow until their profile looks like that of a celebrity (sorry, was I mean? Aww). Still, why would you unfollow when someone is following you? Who knows maybe when you unfollow and that person finds out, they’ll unfollow too. You lose a follower, they lose a follower, you’re both losers! Does that make sense? Whatever. This is the best way to keep followers.

2. Socialize

Yes, unfortunately, because you’re not a celebrity (hello, can I emphasize it anymore?), you’re not going to get any followers by not tweeting and not socializing. You have to get out there, talk to people, get to know them and learn more about them. Isn’t that why you joined Twitter in the first place? To get to know people? (Oh, don’t tell me it was to sell things! Or to tell everyone to look at your horny profile!). Anyway, you gotta know people, you gotta talk to them and you have to socialize because when people get to know you, they may rethink to unfollow you. Right? Right? Well, I guess that depends how nice you are. Or how bitchy. Or how cool. Or whatever.

3. Be Interesting

Socializing doesn’t really mean you’re interesting. You can socialize but you really have to be interesting. Interesting – some point of your tweets must be worth retweeting, whether it be quotes, your random rants, or whatever, it must be interesting. Seriously? Don’t keep tweeting about getting more followers, please, please, do not plead. It gets on everyone’s nerves. Right? Right? Well, it gets on my nerves. So please, do not keep 3 pages of your twitter’s profile about getting more followers. I’m not saying it’s bad to ask people to follow you. Neither am I saying that asking people for shoutouts and begging for help is wrong. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t ask people to follow back and get people to mention your name. Just don’t do it all the time. You will have followers. If you’re interesting enough. Tweet about everything and anything (stop offering horny profiles, social marketing bull and what not! Please, please!) Tweet interesting quotes, movie reviews, blog stuff, retweet quotes and whatsoever. Make your twitter something to look at and be interesting. If you’re interesting enough people will keep following and will rethink unfollowing.

4. Tweet

You won’t get followers if you don’t tweet! Duh? First class knowledge. You don’t have to tweet 50 times a day (okay, maybe you do. Just kidding), tweet at least 5 times a day. It’s not that hard. If it was, you wouldn’t even be on twitter. You shouldn’t even have signed up. Some people don’t like twitters that don’t have enough tweets. So if you don’t have tweets, people rethink following you and wouldn’t rethink unfollowing you.

5. Make sure none of your followers are spammers

Ahh. Xewhetijg, khgvei, bjveej, whore Shelly Ryan and the people offering whatsoever. Delete them ASAP. So you know the right amount of your followers and you won’t have to wonder why people unfollowed you. Most of the time, they don’t. Most of the time, it’s just Twitter clearance day! My favorite day. The day you know how many followers you really have and how many followers you have that are spam. Check your followers from time to time, especially after Follow Friday.

So that’s it. That’s how you keep your followers. What? That’s it, that’s all there is, what more do you want? A shoutout? You’re kidding right?
Just kidding. Follow me, guys.

How to Spot a Fake Celebrity Twitter

Posted by Biyachessa On September - 12 - 2009

Taylor Swift's ONLY account

Twitter is so hot these days that even celebrities have come to be addicted to it. Still, the fact that many people would like to be “famous” and have many followers and even maybe try to get the contact numbers and personal information of celebrities, there are some low-life, pathetic, sad people imposing on celebrities which is illegal and extremely pathetic. Sorry.

Although the question “Why in the world would any celebrity make two accounts? Or a ‘personal’ account?” is quite the big thing, its still every fake accounts’ best alibi. Geez, what’s the other account for? Business? Selling stuff? Revealing secrets? And what’s the “personal account” for? Talking self?

Twitter is a form of media. Nothing is personal for celebrities on a social networking website like Twitter. In fact, nothing is personal on the internet.

How stupid is a “personal account” aside from the one they already use? Oops. Did I just burst your bubble, imposters? Truly, truly, truly not sorry.
But really, think about it. If you were a celebrity, what in the world would make you create two accounts? Geez, won’t the people you’ll be talking to in one the same people you’ll be talking to in the other? What’s the point? Hello?

On with the point. Since there are so many accounts claiming to be the personal twitter account, who knows, maybe one of them is real (but I truly doubt it).

So, with the many imposters in Twitter, how do you know which account is real, which account is telling the truth and which ones are liars and pathetic losers?
Here are 5 tips that can help you know which accounts are telling the truth and which are not.

1. Verified

4

First of all, look for the “Verified” sign above the profile of the celebrity. This is first and foremost the best way to know if a celebrity account is real. This means that Twitter has already sufficient evidence to assure that the account is held by and operated by the celebrity themselves.

2. Refer to Verifiable Sources

@TruthTweet, @TweetFakes, @sizzlemaker, @CertifiedCelebs

These are just some certifiable twitterers that can help you verify if the twitters for some celebrity accounts are real. Tweet them and ask if the celeb accounts are real or not. @TweetFakes follows only real celebs so if you want to look for celebrities, you can check out their following list. @sizzlemaker specializes in teen drama so if you’re interested in knowing celebrities from shows, you can ask her.

3. Celebrity Ask

I know that sounds weird, but this is one of the best ways to find out if a twitter account is real. You can ask celebrities or castmates if their known friends or cast owns twitter. For sure, if the celebrity is on twitter, they wouldn’t want to keep quiet about it (duh, why join twitter?). This is one of the rarely used methods because hello, why would the celebrity reply to you? Okay, maybe sometimes they do, but they can’t reply to every single hundred tweet asking them about their friends’ twitter accounts.

5

Fake

WTF? Personal Twitter? Deranged

Fake

Another thought is that, if you come across a twitter account saying that they’re the second account (or more commonly the “personal account”) of another verified celeb twitter, before you believe that, all confirmation must come from the verified twitter account itself. I can write on my profile that I’m the second account of @ddlovato and it wouldn’t mean anything. I can tell people that I’m a personal account Demi Lovato and it still wouldn’t mean anything. So if you find an account saying that they’re “Miley Cyrus” with a personal account and their other account is @mileycyrus, don’t be quick to fall for it. If the confirmation doesn’t come from the verified account, then surely, it’s a fake.

4. Check out the Followers

Well, because the real celebrity would pr obably have contact numbers of other real celebrities, then it’s really easy to pick up the phone, call and ask for their real twitter accounts (duh, it’s just a phone call, few muscle use, don’t be lazy!). If they are real, they probably wouldn’t be following fake accounts. Now, I’m not saying that they can’t make mistakes (@TomFelton, you’re following someone fake!), they are people who can make mistakes after all, but i f they’re following too many fakes (and unrealistic, stupid names, seriously @selenaapersonal,@TayySSwift13, @_ddlovatoo_, @therealddl1992, @1ddlovato9 – seriously, how many demi lovatos, taylor swifts, selena gomezs, miley cyruss are there?) and even talking to them, then for sure they’re fake too.6

Another thing, when you’re checking out the following list, sure enough seeing a list full of multiple different Demi Lovatos, Miley Cyruss, Annalynne McCords, Jessica Stroups, Chace Crawfords, Selena Gomezs, Blake Livelys, Taylor Lautners, would make some part of your brain should be clicking and telling you it’s a fake. Hello? Duh, common sense. What, they eenie-meenie-miney-moe which to tweet for the day?

Think about it, if you’re a celebrity, wouldn’t you want your name simple and clean? @IMKristenBell, @mileycyrus, @ddlovato, @selenagomez, @nicholasbraun, @biyachessa (naw, just kidding, lmao)
Easy to remember, shows you who you are. Simple, easy. Why add so many numbers, letters to your name? Although there are usernames known to be verified with numbers, too many and too much means fake.

5. Check out the Tweets

Seriously. Check out the tweets before you follow and believe. Surely, these celebrities know how to spell, know a bit more on grammar and should at least make sense while tweeting. I know, I know not every single celebrity is as smart as Hermoine Granger or me (just kidding again), but sure enough, you should be able to tell if the tweets of one celebrity is full of bull (ehem @mileycyruus__, @ddlovatoxx2, @SelenaGFoSho).

These are just a few pointers in telling which accounts are fake. At least these are my pointers. But they sure help me out.

Anyways, if you have doubts, need help, Superwoman’s always there (okay, maybe just me @biyachessa).

Follow me guys!

Aw, come on. I mean it. Follow @biyachessa
