Kanye West, Taylor Swift, VMAs

So. This is the talk of the VMAs this morning when I woke up.
Kanye West went up to the stage while Taylor Swift was awarded for Female Video at the 2009 VMAs, he took Taylor Swift’s mic, and said “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. Of all time!”

Okay, first of all, Taylor Swift did deserve the award. In my opinion anyway. Beyonce’s video consisted of a stupid dance (sorry, Beyonce, I love you just not this particular video) while Swift’s You Belong With Me was funny, clever and quite interesting as it had some kind of story. Plus, there’s the additional fact that that 19 year old girl writes and composes her own song is enough to say that she definitely deserves being awarded for her hard work. Yes, both songs are very good, they were talking about the video after all and both deserved an award. It just so happened that Taylor’s video had more meat than Beyonce’s did (Oh, okay, so I’m biased, but I’m betting millions agree with me – and I bet they’re biased too). Still however biased we are, the fact still remains that there was something in that video that made it win over Single Ladies, right? Kanye had no jurisdiction over whether she deserved it or not – or whether Beyonce deserved it more than Taylor did.

Secondly, Kanye did NOT have to say that in front of a million people. Okay, so he thinks she doesn’t deserve it. He wants to be real, wants to be true and all that bull. I’m betting a few hundred people do too (what?? Are you kidding?) but I doubt they need to go in front of a crowd, in front of the winner herself and announce their opinion (based on Hennessy). If he wanted to be real, he could have used other ways to say his opinions. Or if he wanted to tell Taylor Swift that herself, he could have talked to her himself, out of the camera and said flat out that Beyonce deserved it. What, is respect phased out too? Oh – right, he was drunk. That doesn’t make up for anything. Stupidity.

And then, later, he apologizes to Taylor Swift. How TACKY could this classless guy be? First you downsize a young, talented girl half your age, then you don’t give her credit for her hardwork, then you embarrass her in front of a million people, then you leave with a bottle of Hennessy and you HAVE the guts to face her AND her mother and you apologize with an unapologetic statement saying you appreciate pop culture and bull. He even sounded more like he was mocking her.
Wake up and smell the potion (Casper meets Wendy), Kanye West, the VMAs isn’t about you anymore and Taylor Swift’s songs are more than cheerleading and bleachers. (And duh, we know you’re not crazy. You’re just drunk, and high and low-life and too full of yourself to notice that other people may actually be more talented than you are)
FYI, this isn’t the POP CULTURE music awards, bobo, this is the VMAs.
He couldn’t even save himself some face – oh right, he doesn’t have that.

So I say, people were right when they booed him. People were right when they said “Kanye West, you’re a fucked up piece of shit, scumbag low-life, classless dude,”

I say Taylor Swift deserved that award because she works for herself, her songs and is truly one inspiring young, talented girl who definitely deserves to be credited and awarded for her voice, skills, talent and her song-writing abilities.

Characters:
Amy Juergens: is the 16 year old girl who gets pregnant in the show. In the 2nd season, she is a young mother who is trying to juggle her relationships with family, boys, her sisters and rivals along with her studies.
Ashley Juergens: the younger sister of Amy who is kind of an anti-socialist. In the first season, she’s just an annoying extra who says funny stuff. In the 2nd season, she seems more bright and energetic and builds a relationship with a cute gay dude.
Anne Juergens: the mother of Amy and Ashley who I don’t really care about much but seems to be half a bothersome, half nobody in the story (sorry).
George Juergens: the father of Amy and Ashley who cheated on his wife but loves her anyway.
Ricky Underwood: the sooper adorable dude who got Amy pregnant. He’s a foster kid and he’s been through a lot. Out of all the cast, he may seem the cockiest, but he’s actually the most interesting, most mature of all. I love the guy.
Ben Boykewich: who’s he? Just kidding. The other guy in Amy’s life, the boyfriend, the good guy, the everything good, the – whatever. We don’t really care. (Sorry, Ken Baumann, your character really does suck)
Adrian Lee: the slutty, bitch who I have a love-hate relationship with. I love her personality but I definitely hate the way she’s between Ricky and Amy.
Grace Bowman: Aside from the fact that she’s the best dresser of all the female cast, I don’t really, well, there’s nothing much to say. She’s pretty, she has good chemistry with Ricky but in the first episodes of season 2, she was so annoying, I would fast forward her scenes. I’m mean, I know.
Jack Pappas: I don’t like him either, but because he’s Grace’s boyfriend and a regular, I have to put him here. He’s the jock who cheated on Grace over the summer. What else? I don’t remember.

Okay, here’s the fun part.
I haven’t really got the guts to watch every episode of the first season, but I am hooked and has been watching the 2nd season.
I actually really do like the whole show, despite the fact that you cannot even count how many times they mention the word “sex” in every episode. Not that that’s bad, but if you need another reminder, this is a teenage show with 16 year olds and 14 year olds and of course “sex” is a hot topic.
Let me just point out the essential positive and negative things on this show:

Starting with the negative, because that’s a lot of fun.
Negative #1: It focuses a lot on sex. Sex isn’t really the only thing high school is about. There’s like friendship, relationships, honor students – oh, okay, sex is more fun.
Negative #2: It can sometimes be so serious, you start not having fun watching.
Negative #3: There’s a lot of immature characters that you would love to kill during the episode. Amy, who’s a mother now, just because you’re a mother doesn’t make you mature! My mother has 4 kids and even she can be immature!
Negative #4: Tom. I have nothing against autistic or retarded or special people. I just think they point that fact out too much, that it can be an insult for them. On the other hand, it’s probably just me. Plus the Tammy thing is just ridiculous and disgusting.
Negative #5: Too many conflicts. While some shows lack conflicts (ehem…10 things…ehem), others like the Secret Life is overflowing! The title is convenient though. Very secret indeed (well, technically, not the pregnancy anymore) but there’s so many secrets! (juicy!)
Negative #6: I really don’t like Francia Raisa. She overacts, is extremely irritating and I really, really don’t like the way she acts around Amy (okay, of course I’m biased, and maybe a little jealous, she’s got the thinnest waist ever).
Negative #7: the bestfriends. I don’t know what their point is. Sorry, but really??????

Okay, okay, there’s always a positive side. I wouldn’t be watching this if there wasn’t.
Positive #1: First of all, it’s brutally honest. You gotta love how they portray high school. No matter how much we say its not true, we know they do we just refuse to believe. This is probably why I like it so much.
Positive #2: Second, Daren Kagasoff. Need I say more? The dude is HOT, plays a matured, father, a really cool guy and somebody secretly in love with Amy (or so I say so in my dreams).
Positive #3: The show portrays the life of a young mother. It’s hard, it’s brutal, it’s honest.
Positive #4: Although for some it may be negative to have a lot of conflicts, my other me says it’s great. The show is juicy, worth watching and you just can’t wait for the next episode!
Positive #5: Ricky + Amy love team. Okay, so there might not be one in the near future, but there is definitely something there. They both have such a connection probably even without the baby that we all hope they’d end up together someday.
Positive #6: Ashley and George. Hilarious. Cute and really touching.
Positive #7: John. Having a baby there puts everyone into the reality of having a baby when you’re a teenager. It’s scary. It’s big. It’s a responsibility. And as a teen mom, you have to miss out on all the fun stuff all the time because, you’re not just a teen anymore. You’re a teen mom. And that’s just not that much fun.

So there we have it. Even.

Oh, sorry, forgot another Positive:
Shailene Woodley is actually a very good actress. Yes, I argue with myself sometimes whether if she’s pretty or not but, she really does a great job portraying Amy Juergens. I love the girl.

You gotta watch the Secret Life. It’s juicy, sweet, bitchy, cool and honest as well. Who doesn’t love that?

Momma's Boy

The show had some couples as a guest with their mothers and I was astounded by the stories!

I only got to the last couple as a guest and the couple had been together for 3 years. The guy was a Momma’s boy and the relationship with the girlfriend was almost ready to go into the next stage. EXCEPT that the guy was a Momma’s boy. I’m not exaggerating by saying Momma’s boy all the time. I mean it. The guy and his mother got matching tattoos. I mean, seriously?

The girl told a story about their 3rd year anniversary, how she wanted that day for herself and her boyfriend, the whole day. When they were done with their massage, he called his mother. Is he crazy? I’m sorry to all Moms I may offend, but if the child is not a child anymore, then doing that is very inappropriate. I mean, would anyone, anyone at all want to share their boyfriends, husbands with someone else, even if it’s their mother? When you’re about to start a family, it should be YOUR family. I don’t mean drop the bomb and leave just like that, but priorities have to be set. If you love your girl, then love her completely. Don’t make her feel like she’s just second to your mother. Especially if you say you’re ready for a family.

Imagine years later, after getting married to a Momma’s boy, you have 3 kids and you’re in a picnic. You, as a mother will be playing with the kids while your husband and your mother-in-law gossip like some old, old best friends. How weird is that? Although there is nothing wrong with the mother-in-law being there, if it was family time, don’t the parents need to be together wholly as well?

I felt sorry for the girl. A girl from the audience even asked the guy who he’d pick if he was given an ultimatum, the girl or his mother. He didn’t answer directly, but I feel for the girl. It must have hurt her very much to hear the guy actually saying he wouldn’t let go of his Mom. Although I feel for her, she truly does love the guy because she said that she didn’t want to lose him even if she has to share him with his mother.

In my part, if I was the girl, I’d have just let go. If the guy truly loves her, he wouldn’t let her go through this kind of situation. He may love his mother dearly, but he’d give up everything for his girl. Any girl deserves much better than this. Every girl deserves to be loved wholly and without anyone to share her man with no matter who that other person is. A girl as beautiful as the girl in the show, deserves so much better. I do truly hope that her boyfriend would let go even a little bit of his mother to give a bigger space for his girl in his heart. If not, I hope she finds someone who’ll love her wholly and not make her feel like she has to share.

I don’t watch American Idol. But I’ve always really liked the people who came out of it, Kelly Clarkson is awesome, David Cook, David Archuleta, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken. Great voices, very respectable people.

Then, I found an article of Katrina Darrell online and how she auditioned in a bikini. At first, I didn’t take note of it. I didn’t care much. There are some people who’d do anything just for fame. I just finished reading another article saying that she gave her group a hard time by sleeping early. Woke up late and gave the judges an attitude.

Alright, let’s say she’s very pretty, has a sexy body and has an average singing voice.

But I say, she’s one hell of a social climber to do that. I don’t buy that “risk taking” bull that she gave for wearing a bikini, oh come on! I bet she did that so that if she doesn’t get in, well, she’ll at least claim her 15 minutes of fame.

Talk about sleezy and bitchy. She’s not even an A-list yet and she’s already acting like a primadonna.

What doesn’t anyone do for fame?
