“Hey!” a voice called and I had a faint guess that that call was supposed to be for me.
The thing was, I didn’t recognize the voice. Never talk to strangers, my mind echoed my usual reminder.
“Hey!” the voice came again and I fastened my pace. I didn’t like talking to people I didn’t know.
“Come on, I know your leg’s sore,” the voice said and I slowed down.
How’d he know that? I was wearing pants.
“What?”
I whirled around to face the guy… and found myself facing a tall, dark-haired guy, with the most enchanting green eyes I’d ever seen. They were even greener than Nia’s. My eyes grew and I felt my cheeks redden. I quickly turned away.
“Who’re you?” I snapped as I felt him come up behind me.
“Hi, I’m Liam. Liam Andrews. I crashed into you yesterday. Well, technically, you raced into me,” he added in a near out-of-breath voice. “Your leg’s better?”
“I raced into you?” I repeated, spinning around to face him.
He stopped in his tracks, his beautiful green eyes boring into mine. He looked puzzled.
“You don’t remember?”
“You came from the side. You crashed from my side, you hit my left leg, that I’m sure of,” I lied, because I was only half sure.
“I came from the building. I didn’t see you because the car had blocked you. When I saw you, you kept walking and I turned left so that I’d at least only hit your side. Are you okay? Is your memory okay? Man, that was a bad concussion. Maybe I should get you to a hospital,” he said.
“No, never mind. I – uh – gotta go,” I mumbled, remembering what the doctor had said. I swirled in my tracks and started to pace fast to the building.
“Hey, where’re you going?” he said, and I felt his presence trying to keep up with me.
“Where’s the hurry? You have a sore leg for goodness sakes, how can you even manage that?” he said.
I was half running already and my leg was killing me. But I really wasn’t into talking to strangers.
“I didn’t mean to offend you or anything,” he said. He was about 6” tall, so his steps were big enough to catch me. He was keeping up with me better than I was running away.
“So, is your leg okay?” he asked again.
“Peachy,” I muttered, but he heard me and laughed.
“Did the doctor give you painkillers? That’s a really bad wound I gave you there and I bet it’s strained as well. Should I be expecting your mother anytime?” he said.
I stopped.
“Why should you?”
“Well, it’s partly my fault, so I’m expecting a parent to come and sue me or something. What did your father say?”
“My father’s dead,” I said dully, and it was like I’d said that many times in the past.
I fastened my pace.
“Oh. I’m sorry. I didn’t know,”
I was at a trot now, any faster and I’d be running.
“What about your mother?”
“She didn’t say anything,” I said and saying that felt like a burn in the skin.
“Oh. I’m sorry again,”
We were at the building now and I only had to cross it to get to class.

I stopped. Apparently, he didn’t expect this and crashed into me. I almost fell out of balance again, but he caught me in his arms, steadying me.

I had never felt that kind of feeling before.

It was like a lightning bolt running through your skin, like a bee’s sensation of a worthy flower, like fame for the next non-worthy celebrity. It was sudden, but it was worth it.

The feeling was like the melting of snow for spring, and the rise of the sun at Manila Bay. It was warm and fresh like the rolls of waves at your feet.

It was a feeling I was foreign to. I didn’t like foreign.

Next thing I knew I was staring at his eyes.

His eyes were the color of the sea when you look at it from above and there is coral underneath the water. It was deep, dark and gleaming. The lightning was hitting me again, like a silent bolt creeping at my heart causing it to beat faster.

Idiot, the rational me snapped at the idiot girl who had been feeling that awesome feeling crawling up my spine.

I suddenly awoke to the situation.
His arms were around me, a hand, tight on my left arm and another on my waist. He was looking down at me, into me, the same way I had. I looked away from his eyes and I felt his arms lighten on me.

“You could let me go now,” I said, mentally slapping myself for my shaking voice.
“Oh. Okay,” he said. He seemed to hesitate at first, as if I were vulnerable. Then he let go.
“I have class. Gotta go,” I said in one breath and then sped down the hallway.
“Wait! I don’t even know your name!” I heard him call after me.
I swear. I’m never parking in that end again. Too much bad luck.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager, also known as the Secret Life first premiered on July 1, 2008. Now on its 2nd season, the Secret Life has been given a mixture of positive and negative reviews.

Characters:
Amy Juergens: is the 16 year old girl who gets pregnant in the show. In the 2nd season, she is a young mother who is trying to juggle her relationships with family, boys, her sisters and rivals along with her studies.
Ashley Juergens: the younger sister of Amy who is kind of an anti-socialist. In the first season, she’s just an annoying extra who says funny stuff. In the 2nd season, she seems more bright and energetic and builds a relationship with a cute gay dude.
Anne Juergens: the mother of Amy and Ashley who I don’t really care about much but seems to be half a bothersome, half nobody in the story (sorry).
George Juergens: the father of Amy and Ashley who cheated on his wife but loves her anyway.
Ricky Underwood: the sooper adorable dude who got Amy pregnant. He’s a foster kid and he’s been through a lot. Out of all the cast, he may seem the cockiest, but he’s actually the most interesting, most mature of all. I love the guy.
Ben Boykewich: who’s he? Just kidding. The other guy in Amy’s life, the boyfriend, the good guy, the everything good, the – whatever. We don’t really care. (Sorry, Ken Baumann, your character really does suck)
Adrian Lee: the slutty, bitch who I have a love-hate relationship with. I love her personality but I definitely hate the way she’s between Ricky and Amy.
Grace Bowman: Aside from the fact that she’s the best dresser of all the female cast, I don’t really, well, there’s nothing much to say. She’s pretty, she has good chemistry with Ricky but in the first episodes of season 2, she was so annoying, I would fast forward her scenes. I’m mean, I know.
Jack Pappas: I don’t like him either, but because he’s Grace’s boyfriend and a regular, I have to put him here. He’s the jock who cheated on Grace over the summer. What else? I don’t remember.

Okay, here’s the fun part.
I haven’t really got the guts to watch every episode of the first season, but I am hooked and has been watching the 2nd season.
I actually really do like the whole show, despite the fact that you cannot even count how many times they mention the word “sex” in every episode. Not that that’s bad, but if you need another reminder, this is a teenage show with 16 year olds and 14 year olds and of course “sex” is a hot topic.
Let me just point out the essential positive and negative things on this show:

Starting with the negative, because that’s a lot of fun.
Negative #1: It focuses a lot on sex. Sex isn’t really the only thing high school is about. There’s like friendship, relationships, honor students – oh, okay, sex is more fun.
Negative #2: It can sometimes be so serious, you start not having fun watching.
Negative #3: There’s a lot of immature characters that you would love to kill during the episode. Amy, who’s a mother now, just because you’re a mother doesn’t make you mature! My mother has 4 kids and even she can be immature!
Negative #4: Tom. I have nothing against autistic or retarded or special people. I just think they point that fact out too much, that it can be an insult for them. On the other hand, it’s probably just me. Plus the Tammy thing is just ridiculous and disgusting.
Negative #5: Too many conflicts. While some shows lack conflicts (ehem…10 things…ehem), others like the Secret Life is overflowing! The title is convenient though. Very secret indeed (well, technically, not the pregnancy anymore) but there’s so many secrets! (juicy!)
Negative #6: I really don’t like Francia Raisa. She overacts, is extremely irritating and I really, really don’t like the way she acts around Amy (okay, of course I’m biased, and maybe a little jealous, she’s got the thinnest waist ever).
Negative #7: the bestfriends. I don’t know what their point is. Sorry, but really??????

Okay, okay, there’s always a positive side. I wouldn’t be watching this if there wasn’t.
Positive #1: First of all, it’s brutally honest. You gotta love how they portray high school. No matter how much we say its not true, we know they do we just refuse to believe. This is probably why I like it so much.
Positive #2: Second, Daren Kagasoff. Need I say more? The dude is HOT, plays a matured, father, a really cool guy and somebody secretly in love with Amy (or so I say so in my dreams).
Positive #3: The show portrays the life of a young mother. It’s hard, it’s brutal, it’s honest.
Positive #4: Although for some it may be negative to have a lot of conflicts, my other me says it’s great. The show is juicy, worth watching and you just can’t wait for the next episode!
Positive #5: Ricky + Amy love team. Okay, so there might not be one in the near future, but there is definitely something there. They both have such a connection probably even without the baby that we all hope they’d end up together someday.
Positive #6: Ashley and George. Hilarious. Cute and really touching.
Positive #7: John. Having a baby there puts everyone into the reality of having a baby when you’re a teenager. It’s scary. It’s big. It’s a responsibility. And as a teen mom, you have to miss out on all the fun stuff all the time because, you’re not just a teen anymore. You’re a teen mom. And that’s just not that much fun.

So there we have it. Even.

Oh, sorry, forgot another Positive:
Shailene Woodley is actually a very good actress. Yes, I argue with myself sometimes whether if she’s pretty or not but, she really does a great job portraying Amy Juergens. I love the girl.

You gotta watch the Secret Life. It’s juicy, sweet, bitchy, cool and honest as well. Who doesn’t love that?

Of course, I’m no one to say anything about being crazy in love because I don’t think I have been (probably thought I was at that time) . I do think that it would be a beautiful experience. But I’m going to tell that I’m in love if I happen to want to be the best person I can be when I’m with him.
